Sciolytix B2B Sales Hiring Index for December Increases 11 Points to 98.5

New York, NY., December 1, 2023 – The Sciolytix B2B Sales Hiring Index (SSHI-B2B) increased from 87.5 in November to 98.5 in December 2023. The SSHI-B2B measures relative demand for full-time B2B sales talent in the US over the last 30 days through new sales job postings on LinkedIn and Glassdoor.

Up Month-over-Month but Down Year-over-Year

The increase of 11 points from November to December suggests demand for B2B salespeople increased over the past 30 days. The index was down 8.3 points from December 2022 to December 2023. The trend from November and December of 2022 compared with 2023 demonstrates seasonal influence as hiring cools briefly during the holiday season only to accelerate for the start of the new year. 

The hiring market for B2B sales reps has experienced a shift due to various factors. The “great resignation” has left many sales managers scrambling to recruit top-tier talent, requiring a doubling down on effective recruitment techniques. This situation is further complicated by a perceived downturn in market conditions, making some companies hesitant to hire. To adapt to these changes, B2B organizations are re-evaluating their sales roles and adapting to the evolving market dynamics, technology advancements, and customer preferences.

The Changing Mix of Sales Jobs

According to Dario Priolo, Sciolytix’s Chief Marketing Officer and the B2B Sales Hiring Index creator, “Companies increasingly focus on hybrid sales roles, inside sales, and digital sales reps.
