Sciolytix B2B Sales Hiring Index for August Down 7.8 Points to 96.8

New York, NY., August 1, 2023 – The Sciolytix Sales Hiring Index (SSHI) decreased from 64.0 in July to 62.5 in August 2023. The SSHI measures relative demand for full-time sales talent in the US over the last 30 days through new sales job postings on Zip Recruiter, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor.

The decrease of 0.4 points suggests demand for salespeople softened marginally over the past 30 days. While the broad-based SSHI fell only by 0.4 points to 56.8, the B2B-SSHI decreased significantly by 7.8 points to 96.8.

Overall, the B2B sales hiring has been incredibly resilient, despite news of several high-profile layoffs. The current B2B-SSHI at 96.8 is only 3.2 points lower than when the index started in August 2022. There are over 110,000 full-time B2B sales job openings in the US on LinkedIn and Glassdoor.

According to the website layoffs.fyi, this year 902 tech companies have announced layoffs of 223,089 people. This includes 93 companies and 11,689 employees in July. However, these layoffs include employees across all roles. The current demand for B2B salespeople far exceeds the number laid off last month.
