Why It’s Important

Collectors are typically the only individuals who have direct face-to-face contact with the donor during the drug testing process.  Collectors therefore play an important role in public safety by ensuring not just the integrity of the urine specimen collection, but of the entire DOT drug screening process.

The DOT is very particular about the steps collectors must take when conducting a DOT urine drug screen collection.  These procedures are outlined in 49 CFR part 40 and must be followed for all DOT-regulated drug tests.
