DigitalChalk was created to be the best learning management system on the market. And to ensure it stays at the top of that mountain, we’re constantly looking at ways to evolve the platform in a way that makes the most sense for our clients.
At this year’s DigitalChalk User Conference, our Chief Technology Officer Troy Tolle and Vice President of Continuing Ed Solutions Brett Trainor shared all the great things going on behind the scenes with our LMS. This includes a litany of exciting changes we’ve either already implemented or are about to roll out in 2022.
Below is a breakdown:
1. Tests and Surveys
Having a robust system loaded with impactful tests and surveys is critical to continuing education organizations and corporate trainers everywhere. Moving forward, we’re restructuring tests to make things more efficient and build upon what is already there. This includes fill-in-the-blank essays, scales and ratings, and improved reporting and data to help administrators know what questions within each test are tripping up most users.
We’re also adding the ability to manually grade your tests and so many more functional changes that promise to make the entire experience that much better. The early feedback from clients who have used these newer functions is off the charts.
2. Zoom
Zoom has become the dominant player in video conferencing tools. Even as we return to face-to-face meetings, Zoom has earned its place in how we connect with clients and our teams and won’t be retired anytime soon. As a result, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to ensure Zoom integrates seamlessly with DigitalChalk.
With a simple click of a button, our clients can log in, auto-register their students, keep track of attendance, and so much more — all within the friendly confines of Zoom.
3. Zapier
The ability to integrate thousands of applications with DigitalChalk is enough to put this platform in a category by itself for years to come. Zapier allows us to quickly give our customers the ability to integrate with over 3,000 different apps in the marketplace. This includes instant integration with tools like Google Docs, Google Sheets, Office 365, Dropbox, and more.
By integrating with Zapier, our clients can meet the unique needs of their business with increased control.
4. ProctorFree
ProctorFree has quickly become one of our top partners, which is why we’ve decided to really dig into this piece of functionality for 2022. Essentially, ProctorFree allows more capabilities for users who worry about the viability of remote testing. We will now offer remote testing with verification features that include keyboard tracking, facial recognition, screen monitoring, and the ability to ensure the person being tested is the right person.
5. Content Fortress
We’ve created a software tool called Content Fortress that allows organizations to take the content that they’ve created and distribute that same content to anyone around the world regardless of the LMS platform they want to use — all while maintaining 100% control over their content. No worrying about losing control over where that file goes, whether or not the content is providing value to clients, or where it’s being distributed and launched.
Additional benefits include:
- No need to change how you package your content
- One place to manage that content (it doesn’t matter if you’ve got four clients or 1,000)
- Monitor consumption and cap the number of licenses for each customer
- It’s uploaded once and updates automatically (no time-consuming manual efforts)
- Get paid for exactly what your customer has purchased
- Unmatched visibility into how learners are interacting with your courses
- No more losing money and stressing over version control
6. Teams
In the past, if you wanted to give access to a manager for reports, they would become an organization administrator in DigitalChalk. We’ve upgraded that now so that platform administrators can simply manage users into hierarchies (or teams) rather than putting administrative roles over each individual group of people. By making someone a team administrator, you only give them a glimpse into the people on their team or in their team hierarchy.
This is going to improve usability in several ways:
- Manage users in these hierarchies more efficiently
- Improved distribution across teams
- Better reporting
7. UI Enhancements
Of all the changes we’re making to DigitalChalk, perhaps the most exciting is the many UI enhancements. It’s still going to be all the same things you know and love about DigitalChalk, but we’re refreshing everything and paying attention to the smaller details. Examples include giving interactive videos, various user management screens, and administrative features a long-overdue facelift.
These aren’t going to be small changes. You will notice them immediately.
Every time we do something new, we will update that interface to be the latest and greatest version. It’s all about making things easier for our users and administrators.
